This ornament was kind of an experiment. I wanted to try to do pine needles, and I really like how realistic they look. First I made the branch, then started adding the pine needles one by one. I used an extruder to make a long string of skinny clay, then used a really sharp blade to slice the little pieces. Then I started adding the pine needles one by one. I am not sure if there is an easier way to do it, but that is how I decided to try it. I made sure I did not line them up completely straight, to make it look a little more natural.
That was pretty much all there was too it. It was really easy, just tedious. At the end, I decorated the ornament with gold paint. I wrote “Merry Christmas” but it could be anything and everything.
