This was my first try at making my own wands, and I was SO excited at how they turned out. My children requested Harry Potter wands for Christmas and I recently saw them on Pinterest, so I gave it a try.
I started with some chopsticks from amazon (the restaurant ones were too flimsy) –Chinese Natural Bamboo Chopsticks, 9.45Inch/24cm Long Lightweight Chopstick Set -10 Pairs Natural. They could be any size you want, these are just an example. I used a cheap little hot glue gun, but it has lasted me FOREVER (Ad-Tech Mini Hi-Temp Hot Glue Gun Combo Pack, White) and the refills (Ad-Tech Mini Hi-Temp Hot Glue Gun Combo Pack, White).
This wand was much simpler compared to Lord Voldemort’s wand. I don’t have step by step pictures, but it was just making little blobs of hot glue around the chopstick. You can use the tip of the glue gun to mold the glue into the shape you want it, once it is dry. I had to turn the chopstick while the glue dried, so it didn’t drip to one side. I took a clay tool to poke the holes into the glue to make it look more like the original.
Initially I used acrylic paint on top of the glue, but it didn’t stick all that well. I used spray paint as a base and then painted over it with the acrylic paint. A lazy way to make the holes darker is to coat it in the darker color and then wipe it with a baby wipe.
I sealed the final wand with clay sealer, and DONE!
