As party favors for her Harry Potter birthday, we thought it would be fun to make lots of tiny little spider piñatas. They were fun to make and even fun to smash!
Empty cereal boxes are filled tastic for making miniature piñatas. They are easy to cut, and we always have lots of empty boxes at our house. To start with you have to decide what shape you want your spiders to be, and then cut and repeat. Lots of times.
He will also have to cut a long strip about an inch thick, to give you space for the candy. I wanted the spiders to have legs, so I used pipe cleaners. I used of my clay tools to poke the holes and hot glued the pieces together.
When half of the spider is glued, take the pipe cleaners and poke them through the holes before you glue the top on . Don’t forget to leave a small space unglued so that they can be filled with candy.
Then, everyone’s favorite part….Filling them up with candy!
Next came the decorating. At first I thought I was going to wrap them like I would a big pin yada, but I quickly found out that was way too time-consuming and complicated with all of the legs sticking out. I opted to paint them instead. They still looked cool and it took less time .
We then glued googly eyes on to our spiders, and they were finished!
To make them look cooler, I decided to make a little hole for them to come out. It was just cardboard and packing paper glued in the shape of a cave, and painted gray.
The final result, with added spiderwebs that we had left over from Halloween.
