While we were looking for a big unicorn piñata, we happened to find this cute little idea. Mini piñatas!! These are so cute. We used them as party favors, and they were a big hit.

Supplies I used:
– Lots of thin cardboard (cereal boxes or muffin boxes are great)
– Scissors
– Pencil (for tracing)
Adtech Mini Hi-Temp Hot Glue Gun Combo Pack – This is what I use. It is a cheap little thing, but it has lasted me through MANY projects and is still going strong.
– Gorilla Hot Glue Sticks, Mini Size, 4″ Long x .27″ Diameter, 30 Count, Clear, (Pack of 1)
– crepe paper (whatever colors you want to use)
– glue sticks
– card stock paper for the unicorn horn
– and of course CANDY

The process to make them is pretty much the same as the bigger version, starting with the initial shape. Once you trace it, you can cut it out. I use the first side to then trace the second side. Next, a long strip needs to be cut out, to make up the sides of the piñata. Thin cardboard boxes are great for this (we saved lots of cereal and muffin boxes!).

After cutting out all of the pieces, I used a hot glue gun to glue the two sides to the long skinny piece, making sure to leave the last little bit unglued so they can be stuffed with candy. The birthday girl helped me to stuff them (although she probably ate about as much as she stuffed).

When she was finished stuffing the piñatas with candy, I sealed the rest of it up. I did not add little strings to these, although you certainly could. The next step is to wrap these tiny unicorns with streamers. I cut the streamers down the middle (lengthwise), and cut little slits into one side. Now you can glue it on piece by piece. It did take quite a while to due this step (for what seemed like a million little piñatas).

For the hair, I used more little strips of streamers. I used a knife to cut a little opening for the tail and hot glued the tail into place. Lastly I used glittery scrapbook paper to roll the little horns and glued them into place.

And that is it! Little unicorn piñatas.
